Recycling sites
AffaldPlus has 23 recycling sites throughout the six municipalities at South and West Zealand. You can deliver all sorts of waste at the sites. At most of the recycling sites, we have more than 30 different kinds of containers from garden waste and paper to chemicals and recyclable PVC. 

It is the customers who have to sort their own waste, but our personnel are always willing to help and guide you.

When a container is full, it is transported to a recycling company. Here the waste is transformed into new products. From metal it is possible to produce new bicycles or frying pans.

The recycling terminal
At our recycling terminal in Næstved, we are bailing paper, cardboard and plastic into big bales just like pressing straw into bales. In this way, we are able to transport big amounts of waste without taking too much space. The recycling terminal sends our reusable waste further to the companies, which produce new materials out of the waste. Old new papers can be transformed into new paper and the old plastic bottle can be transformed into a new bottle or maybe a fleece.
 

Incineration plants
We also have two incineration plants: one in Slagelse and one in Næstved. Here we incinerate 180,000 tons each year – about 20 tons a hour – and produce electricity and head enough to cover the consumption of about 24,000 houses. We burn the waste at a temperature that is over 1000 degrees.

Naturally, we take care not to pollute the air with our flue gas. A lot of filters and other equipments make sure that the quantity of pollutants in the flue gas is strongly reduced before it comes out of our chimneys that are 70 and 85 meters high. 
 

All our plants are ensuring an environment friendly management of the waste.
